Tired Of Political Elitists Picking Our Candidates?

By Rick Steeby

I am not a fan of this two-party system where your personal beliefs have to be compromised to one party platform or the other based on the lesser of two evils.

I am reminded of my own words of how Congress has become entrenched and regardless of party they are more concerned with the power and the prestige of office then in service to their country.

Tea Party To The Rescue

Tea Party To The Rescue

Two central facts give shape to the historic 2010 election. The first is not understood by Republicans, and the second not admitted by Democrats.

The first: the tea party is not a “threat” to the Republican Party, the tea party saved the Republican Party. In a broad sense, the tea party rescued it from being the fat, unhappy, querulous creature it had become, a party that didn’t remember anymore why it existed, or what its historical purpose was. The tea party, with its energy and earnestness, restored the GOP to itself.

In a practical sense, the tea party saved the Republican Party in this cycle by not going third-party. It could have.

The Smell In the Room: Controversy Over Florida’s New Ballot-Qualified TEA Party

The great majority of TEA Party candidates (especially those running for the state legislature) are not credible candidates for the offices they are seeking.

After a study of campaign records and other open-source data, the TEA Party and its “affiliated organizations” appear to comprise a main body of about 40 or so interconnected individuals organized around principals O’Neal and Guetzloe, based primarily in the Orlando area, with no mass following and virtually no potential for substantial growth.

Dem-Picked Tea Party Candidate Defends Ballot Slot

Dem-Picked Tea Party Candidate Defends Ballot Slot

Editor’s Note – Let’s see if I have this right, the Democrat Party selects an individual to run as a ‘Tea Party’ candidate in a covert effort to split the conservative vote, and then, upon entering the race, the Democrat operative proclaims to be “the only true conservative in the race”.

Did they write a manual for this sort of thing!!!

For Central Floridians, this story may sound familiar. In fact, many may think I’m referring to Peg Dunmire, who is fond of calling herself the “only true conservative in the race”, however, this story originates in New Jersey…

TEA Candidate Has Ties To Democrat Rival’s Manager

TEA Candidate Has Ties To Democrat Rival’s Manager

Nonetheless, this is yet another occurance where the motives of those associated with the TEA Party are being questioned.

It reminds me of a line in the movie Wyatt Earp, where Wyatt is about to ride out after the men who killed his brother and the town newspaper editor tells him that there are laws to address this. Wyatt then says, “if these men think they’re going to hide behind these laws, then they’ve missed their guess”.

The moral of the story being that we appear to have individuals trampling on one of our most sacred rights, the right to a fair and free election, all the while, hiding behind the laws of the land. There’s a lot to be said for old fashioned, western justice.

Dunmire Campaign Use Of Sarah Palin Photo Misleading To D8 Voters

The Peg Dunmire campaign released a television commercial this past week that ends with a photo of Dunmire standing next to Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. In addition, a Dunmire campaign email went out today through TownHall.com which prominently features the same photograph.

The photo in question was taken at the Orange County Republican Excecutive Committee Lincoln Day Dinner held on March 12, 2010. At the time, Dunmire was a registered Republican running in the district eight Republican primary.

It was not until the following week on March 18, 2010 that Dunmire announced that she was changing her party affiliation to the Florida TEA Party.

GOP Gains on ‘Generic’ Ballot

Sunshine State News

With all 25 congressional seats up for election this fall, Florida Democrats may be in an uphill fight to hold onto the 10 districts they have, a Sunshine State News Poll finds.

A survey of likely voters statewide shows that 47 percent would vote for the Republican in their congressional district. Just 39 percent said they would vote for the Democrat and 7 percent would opt for “another party.”

The remaining 7 percent said they were undecided.

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

By KrisAnne Hall

Our founders deliberately did not establish a democracy, because in that form of government, the majority would always choke to death the desire for Liberty of a minority. Yet another point that Mrs. Ginsberg might be wise to share with Egypt instead of encouraging them to strive “to achieve a general democracy…”

The dichotomy of her praise and criticism of our founders and our Constitution shows that she is greatly misinformed of both…

Decision 2012, What Does It All Mean?

By Allen Wilson

Good bye Presidential hoopla we’ll see you in August.

But for now, let’s turn our thoughts to more pressing problems for Florida and the nation. Fasten your seat belts folks; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

This won’t be a Tea Party vs the Establishment event, that’s just so 2010. No, this is a showcase for Agenders, Fair Taxers, Occupiers (well they don’t really vote do they”), and GOOOH’ers…

Romney Wins, What’s Next?

By Tom Tillison

So after three years of toil by thousands of average everyday citizens who’ve sacrificed far more than they ever cared to, Florida supports John McCain yet again, just in a prettier package.

And just as in 2008, Florida will be the impetus that thrusts this better wrapped version identified as Mitt Romney one step closer to an eventual match up with Barack Obama.

There will be plenty of coverage breaking down the final numbers…

Clouds On A Sunny Day

By Allen Wilson

I remember the instant that the mood changed.

As my lens focused beyond the Washington Monument and upon the Capital Dome I recognized that I no longer felt proud of this city. I was embarrassed that under that dome sat men and women who first thought of themselves before they thought of their nation.
