The Train Ends Here, Exit Right

The Train Ends Here, Exit Right

By Francisco Gonzalez

When I initially supported Herman Cain – prior to the Presidency 5 straw poll in Orlando – I didn’t think he’d win the straw poll or even the Presidency. That’s not why I supported him. I supported him because of what he represented: a political outsider who had never held public office and who could effectively – and unapologetically – articulate conservative principles at a time when the status quo in Washington needs a serious revision.

On top of that he seemed to me to be a very moral person, a business leader with executive experience (he’s actually signed the front of a paycheck before), and as a black conservative, he also held hope to take the race issue off the table…

Weary And Heavy Laden

Weary And Heavy Laden

By Ron Miller

I have a confession to make.

It hit me last night, as I returned from watching my Liberty Flames go down to defeat in football, 27-24.

Nonetheless, it was a wonderful evening of tailgating with a couple of my new colleagues and their families, and I got to hang out with my son, who greatly enjoys live sports and is even teaching me a thing or two about how the game of football is played these days…

The Difference Between Legality And Ethics

The Difference Between Legality And Ethics

By Jim Gammon

Rarely are there two stories in the news at the same time that, between them, so well define an important issue in our society, character.

You are aware, I’m sure, of the man who won a lottery and took home over $800,000 in cash, yet still collects food stamps legally, because the law doesn’t see winnings as income. His famous words…

The Politics Of Personal Destruction

The Politics Of Personal Destruction

By Matthew Falconer

Despite the fact I am no longer running for a public office I have been the recipient of a number of personal attacks because of my continued effort to stop reckless government spending projects.

I worked hard and together with a group of people we convinced Rick Scott to reject Obama’s high speed rail money saving the American taxpayer at least $400 million. We are making the same effort to stop the $1.2 billion Sun Rail project that will primarily benefit special interests…

The Tea Party And The Politician

The Tea Party And The Politician

One of the prevailing themes of the tea party movement, accurately captured in the book ‘Tea Party, The Awakening’, written by Brent Morehouse, which includes testimonials from tea party members from across the country, is the idea that for most, this was their first foray into politics.

Of the tea party, I am qualified to speak, of politicians, well, maybe not as much. What I can do is share my observations over the past two years…

Most Voters View Arizona Shootings As Random Act Of Violence, Not Politics

January 12, 2011 Misc, Political News 1 Comment

Americans have closely followed news stories about the shooting of Congresswoman Gabrielle Giffords and the killing of six others in Arizona on Saturday, and most don’t feel politics was the cause of it.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that…

Celebrity Politics And Sarah Palin’s Alaska

Celebrity Politics And Sarah Palin’s Alaska

By Jesse Phillips

If I ever go missing, send a search party up to Sarah Palin’s Alaska.

This show, which premiered last night on TLC, accomplished two things I never thought would happen.

1) I have started planning a trip with my wife to Alaska.

2) TLC is quickly becoming my favorite television station.

High School Football America

High School Football America

The first high school game is an absolute rite of passage for any red-blooded American teenager. Not soccer. Not cricket. Not interpretive dance. Good old in-the-mud high school football.

There’s a reason why the same Friday night tradition continues to be played out across America, year after year after year.

The courage, prosperity, and promise characterized by high school football is a metaphor for what we call the American Way.

The Big Boot

The Big Boot

The reshuffling of Congress, along with the ever expanding strength of Tea Party candidates, will throw a big wrench into the continued destruction of the American Way by establishment politicians.

Thinking about how to write a 1000+ page bill will be the last thing on their little minds. They won’t be jockeying around for committee chairmanships, assignments, or where they are in the pecking order. They’ll be trying to figure out what they’ll do with all that free time on their hands, come January.

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

By KrisAnne Hall

Our founders deliberately did not establish a democracy, because in that form of government, the majority would always choke to death the desire for Liberty of a minority. Yet another point that Mrs. Ginsberg might be wise to share with Egypt instead of encouraging them to strive “to achieve a general democracy…”

The dichotomy of her praise and criticism of our founders and our Constitution shows that she is greatly misinformed of both…

Decision 2012, What Does It All Mean?

By Allen Wilson

Good bye Presidential hoopla we’ll see you in August.

But for now, let’s turn our thoughts to more pressing problems for Florida and the nation. Fasten your seat belts folks; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

This won’t be a Tea Party vs the Establishment event, that’s just so 2010. No, this is a showcase for Agenders, Fair Taxers, Occupiers (well they don’t really vote do they”), and GOOOH’ers…

Tired Of Political Elitists Picking Our Candidates?

By Rick Steeby

I am not a fan of this two-party system where your personal beliefs have to be compromised to one party platform or the other based on the lesser of two evils.

I am reminded of my own words of how Congress has become entrenched and regardless of party they are more concerned with the power and the prestige of office then in service to their country.

Romney Wins, What’s Next?

By Tom Tillison

So after three years of toil by thousands of average everyday citizens who’ve sacrificed far more than they ever cared to, Florida supports John McCain yet again, just in a prettier package.

And just as in 2008, Florida will be the impetus that thrusts this better wrapped version identified as Mitt Romney one step closer to an eventual match up with Barack Obama.

There will be plenty of coverage breaking down the final numbers…

Clouds On A Sunny Day

Clouds On A Sunny Day

By Allen Wilson

I remember the instant that the mood changed.

As my lens focused beyond the Washington Monument and upon the Capital Dome I recognized that I no longer felt proud of this city. I was embarrassed that under that dome sat men and women who first thought of themselves before they thought of their nation.
