Rick Scott; Live To Fight Another Day

With a decision on SunRail forthcoming any day now, Gov. Rick Scott finds himself in a very precarious position. He simply cannot please everyone and his decision, be it in favor of SunRail or opposed, is destined to upset an important bloc that will be critical to future successes.

Yes, it goes with the territory, but if one could venture inside Scott’s head for a moment, it would be interesting to see if being Governor of Florida is what he expected it to be going in…

We The People Must Control Our Government

By Michael Pinson
Americans For Freedom

Taxpayers should understand that the AFL-CIO, SEIU and other Unions have such hard line contracts with many city and county governments that the Unions have a financial stranglehold on the taxpayers.

Under current union contracts, the Unions are telling the city government what they will be paid and no cutbacks for years. If they cannot agree…

GOP; Damned If You Do, Damned If You Don’t

By Tom Tillison

More proof that if you hang around long enough, you’ll see just about everything!

Anyone who knows me knows that I am far from being an apologist for the Republican Party, but what a pickle they find themselves in. And, as is usually the case, they can look amongst themselves for much of the blame.

There’s much ado being made about the announced budget cuts that House Republicans are proposing…

Judge Asked To Block Finance Laws For Citizens Group

THE CAPITAL, TALLAHASSEE, Oct. 18, 2010…A federal court was asked Monday to block the state’s campaign finance laws from being applied to four activists opposing a Florida ballot measure – a move the judge acknowledged would add “a little bit of chaos” two weeks before Election Day.

The conservative Institute for Justice urged U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle to throw out the finance laws governing ballot measures, with the challenge centered on Florida’s requirement that two or more people who want to spend more than $500 on either side of a ballot issue must form as a political committee regulated by the state.

FL Democrats: Civic Duty Is Only For The Rich & Ruling Class

By Linda O’Keefe

It is a sad day in America! Average citizens exercising their civic duty are now being intimidated by politicians and government bureaucrats.

Volusia Tea Party Patriots is one of many groups nationwide that have been hosting forums with political candidates…

These forums have occurred at meeting rooms in public libraries, private rooms at restaurants, and in banquet rooms of hotels. Very few churches have opened up their doors to these patriots and even fewer union halls! Therefore, there is a cost to hosting such events. These Patriots have principles and passion, but money is scarce in this economy.

Progressives Hope ‘One Nation’ Coalition Can Recapture Grass-Roots Fervor

Editor’s Note – One Nation, but don’t expect ‘under God’ to follow anytime soon.

The Progressive Left, which represents about 20% of the total population in America, is understandably concerned. With the success of the tea party movement, even with all the internal bickering, they see their utopia of ‘cradle-to-grave’ government provided entitlements slipping through their hands.

War On Women Can Be Fought At The Polls

By Kim Carroll

Women have the power. They take their right to vote seriously and show up at the polls in greater numbers than men according to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.

In 2008, 60.4 percent of eligible female voters cast their vote versus 55.7% of eligible males. According to the same study, more women are registered to vote than men, 66.6 million versus 63.5 million. Maybe that’s why the “War on Women” has taken a front seat in this election…

The Interest Bomb Is Ticking

By: George Noga

This post kicks off a three-part series about the crisis of spending, debt and deficits.

The next part deals with the interval between now and the inevitable arrival of the Minsky Moment, i.e. the unknown and unknowable time when an unsustainable economic phenomenon suddenly collapses.

The third post will address Gotterdammerung, or what happens after the Minsky Moment.

Is Mack Campaign Getting Desperate?

By Tom Tillison

It’s a fair guess that Connie Mack has seen some recent polling that has gotten his attention.

As the week closed out, the rhetoric coming from the Mack campaign took on a rather fervent pitch. In a press release sent out Thursday, it made the claim that opponent George LeMieux has “endorsed raising Florida’s sales tax to a nation-leading 16 percent.”

Obama’s IPAB Death Panels Limit More Than Just Health Care Access

By L. Persona

Florida Democrats believe they can win a few Republican seats in Congress and are preparing a major offensive against several Republicans facing tough challenges this year. They believe that redistricting gives them a chance to offset the seats they are sure to give up.

However, the Democrats still fail to realize the albatross that ObamaCare places on their party’s efforts…

A Black Guy At The Dallas, TX Tea Party Rally

By Lloyd Marcus

A big well dressed black guy attended the Dallas, TX tea party rally with his white buddy. Both men missed my singing performance on stage minutes earlier.

I asked the black gentleman who had an impressive physique how often he worked out. He replied, “Everyday.” His white buddy said with a chuckle, “He thinks the Tea Party is racist.”
