A Spin On Bike vs. Car Challenges

By Ed Braddy

If you sometimes scratch your head while sitting in traffic and ask yourself why transportation planners and local political leaders make such odd decisions that result in more congestion, wasted fuel, and increased pollution, you may want to check out the urban planning doctrine called Smart Growth (or, New Urbanism) that is the current fad in many communities across the country…

Florida’s Cap And Trade Bill

Florida’s Cap And Trade Bill

By Matthew Falconer

Republicans and conservatives spare no mercy in attacking Obama’s “Cap and Trade” bill (known as “Cap and Tax).” Most conservatives, including myself, believe it will make energy more expensive and America less competitive.

But Florida already has a Cap and Trade bill…

Environmentalism’s Siren Song

By George Noga

This week I am departing from the usual format to write more directly and personally.

Of my exasperations, nothing matches the environmental movement for effrontery. Nearly everything about it is fraudulent; yet it has captured the hearts and souls of our children.

Try explaining to your kids that every measure of human and environmental well-being is better today than at any time in the past 100 years and continues to improve…

Plakon Files Florida Climate Protection Act To Eliminate Cap And Trade

As reported in the Florida Tribune, Rep. Scott Plakon (R-Longwood) has filed a bill that would eliminate Florida’s greenhouse gas emissions cap-and-trade program before one was ever adopted.

Plakon’s bill, HB 4117 would eliminate the provision in 2008’s HB 7135 that allowed the Florida Department of Environmental Protection to establish a cap and trade program. Such a program would cap emissions of carbon dioxide and other greenhouse gases and allow companies to buy and sell emissions credits.

In Osceola County, commissioners are trying to close a $2.8 million dollar budget deficit and the county manager wants to cut $650,000 from fire rescue.

Yet these same hand-wringers recently spent $9.2 million to purchase 370 acres for land conservation.

Gotta keep that land out of the hands of greedy developers, right?

Can Environmentalism Be Saved From Itself?

Can Environmentalism Be Saved From Itself?

To avoid extinction, The Environmental Movement must find a way to overcome the intellectual collapse of the Climate Change Conspiracy.

Before it was co-opted by corrupt, self-promoting world leaders, the Environmental Movement was involved in noble initiatives like the conservation of natural habitats and clean water.

Once global re-distributionists hijacked the environmental cause, sound science and common sense solutions got thrown to the wayside.

Think Cap and Trade is Dead – Think Again

And the worst part of this scenario is that no new legislation is being passed, these effects are as a result of rules written by the EPA.

This is just one more example of government bureaucracy out of touch with the state of the nation. Even a Republican Congress will struggle to get in front of the problem.

This is an executive branch initiative. And it may be coming to a power plant near you.

Sarah Palin Promotes Dan Webster Via Twitter

Sarah Palin Promotes Dan Webster Via Twitter

Alaska Governor Sarah Palin has indicated her support, via Twitter, of Dan Webster in the congressional district 8 race, taking a backhand swipe at repugnant Alan Grayson in the process by referencing him in two seperate ‘tweets’ without mentioning him by name.

Alan Grayson reacted today, sending out an email referring Palin as the “half-baked Alaskan” and spoke of her “endeavoring to promote my Republican opponent, Daniel Webster, to Palin’s zombie horde”. Naturally, he quickly followed this up with an appeal to send him money by contributing to his “Sarah Palin, Mind Your Own Business” Fund.

What Cap? Dems’ Climate Word War

What Cap? Dems’ Climate Word War

Editor’s Note – “Cap and trade has certainly been demonized,” said Sen. Ben Cardin (D-Md.). “I think that’s unfortunate. … So we’ll just call it something different.”

Once again, the audacity of the left. Are they so confident in the ignorance of the populace that they just openly declare their intent now?

With ObamaCare and Financial Reform in the bag, it’s on to Cap n Trade, only they no longer call it that. Regardless of the market researched name that is settled upon, one thing doesn’t change; it remains the largest energy tax in our nations’s history. The last thing this economy needs is higher costs for businesses, yet, this doesn’t seem to concern the Progressive Left.

Never Let A Serious Crisis Go To Waste; Cap & Trade

Editor’s Note – “Never let a serious crisis go to waste.”  While channeling Rahm Emanuel, President Obama will go on national television tonight and make his case for the passage of Cap and Trade, completely ignoring his poor handling of the Gulf oil spill in the process.
Of course, he’ll never use the phrase ‘cap and trade’.  He will engage in [...]

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

By KrisAnne Hall

Our founders deliberately did not establish a democracy, because in that form of government, the majority would always choke to death the desire for Liberty of a minority. Yet another point that Mrs. Ginsberg might be wise to share with Egypt instead of encouraging them to strive “to achieve a general democracy…”

The dichotomy of her praise and criticism of our founders and our Constitution shows that she is greatly misinformed of both…

Decision 2012, What Does It All Mean?

By Allen Wilson

Good bye Presidential hoopla we’ll see you in August.

But for now, let’s turn our thoughts to more pressing problems for Florida and the nation. Fasten your seat belts folks; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

This won’t be a Tea Party vs the Establishment event, that’s just so 2010. No, this is a showcase for Agenders, Fair Taxers, Occupiers (well they don’t really vote do they”), and GOOOH’ers…

Tired Of Political Elitists Picking Our Candidates?

By Rick Steeby

I am not a fan of this two-party system where your personal beliefs have to be compromised to one party platform or the other based on the lesser of two evils.

I am reminded of my own words of how Congress has become entrenched and regardless of party they are more concerned with the power and the prestige of office then in service to their country.

Romney Wins, What’s Next?

By Tom Tillison

So after three years of toil by thousands of average everyday citizens who’ve sacrificed far more than they ever cared to, Florida supports John McCain yet again, just in a prettier package.

And just as in 2008, Florida will be the impetus that thrusts this better wrapped version identified as Mitt Romney one step closer to an eventual match up with Barack Obama.

There will be plenty of coverage breaking down the final numbers…

Clouds On A Sunny Day

By Allen Wilson

I remember the instant that the mood changed.

As my lens focused beyond the Washington Monument and upon the Capital Dome I recognized that I no longer felt proud of this city. I was embarrassed that under that dome sat men and women who first thought of themselves before they thought of their nation.
