Citizen Candidates

By Matthew Falconer

During his campaign Dan Webster was fond of saying “Washington is broken.” But I will take this a step further and say our political system is broken. I had the opportunity of running for public office and I saw behind the political curtain.

What I found was our political system has been completely corrupted by special interests…

2012; Inappropriate Possibilities On The Road Less Traveled

This nation was founded on a healthy distrust of government, rightfully so. The key difference between Europe and America is in Europe, the people are servants of the government, here, the people are masters over the government.

It was Thomas Jefferson who said, “The two enemies of the people are criminals and government, so let us tie the second down with the chains of the Constitution so the second will not become the legalized version of the first.”

The Fork In The Road For The Tea Party

By Matthew Falconer

With the November elections in the books and a new more conservative Congress to be sworn in, the “tea party” movement has two paths it can follow;

One is to stand behind big spending Republicans to help defeat big spending Democrats and the other is to support fiscally conservative Republicans defeat big spending Republicans in primaries.

The lesser of two evils approach has won in the past but the future is up for debate.

A Peaceful Revolution

A Peaceful Revolution

By Grant Maloy

In this revolution, the main weapon is information. The internet has given ordinary people the power to find and share information quickly.

Not long ago when you researched a county issue, you went to Sanford and looked at agendas on file. You then would use microfiche film and start reading on one of those lighted screens with a big magnifying glass. It was slow and time consuming. Now information is instantly at your fingertips from your home.

Alan Grayson Finally Wins!

Alan Grayson Finally Wins!

How would you like to be the individual responsible for creating the ads for Grayson’s campaign and have TWO of your efforts make the Top 10 Worst Campaign ads, including the number one spot?

In a tough economy, I can just imagine that the job offers are probably not rolling in right now for this poor soul!

That’s assuming that the delusional soon-to-be former Congressman has reached the point where he’s willing to lay the blame where it belongs.

Today’s Feel Good Moment; Yes, We Can!

In the cynical world of politics, where power and money rule the day, right seldom prevails. Occasionaly, though, the clouds part and rays of sunshine cascade down upon us little people.

It is then that we draw strength and reassurance that our actions can actually make a difference.

With the flurry of activity on Election Day, you may have missed some encouraging results…

How Justices Jorge Labarga, James Perry Survived Retention Fight

Editor’s Note – Kenric Ward goes into great detail explaining the nomination process for judges, the role the Florida Bar plays and even questions whether the campaign against retention is even worth the effort.

A little known fact is even if a judge does not obtain the necessary votes for retention, the process is set up to where the Governor may very well be able to just reappoint the individual.

Your’s truly is quoted in the article below on the outcome of the Restore Justice campaign. Be sure to follow the link at the end of the story for much more on this interesting topic.

Corrine Brown And Mario Diaz-Balart Sue To Halt Amendment 6

Less than a day after Florida voters approved Amendment 6, Corrine Brown and Rep Mario Diaz-Balart, a Republican, filed suit to prevent the newly approved proposal from taking effect.

Named in the lawsuit are the Florida House and Senate. Ironically, the Republican-led Senate spearheaded efforts to derail the amendment, with its leadership saying it was unworkable.

Even more ironic, hardcore Democrat staples such as the NAACP, SEIU and the ACLU supported the passage of Amendment 6.

The View From the Top is the Higher Summit Beyond

By Allen Wilson

Without a focus for anxiety will we end up like the Obamania bunch that didn’t show up on Tuesday?

Will a million people travel to Washington D.C. or their respective state houses or city halls on January 3, 2011 to let their legislators know we are watching still?

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

Justice Ginsburg Violates Her Oath

By KrisAnne Hall

Our founders deliberately did not establish a democracy, because in that form of government, the majority would always choke to death the desire for Liberty of a minority. Yet another point that Mrs. Ginsberg might be wise to share with Egypt instead of encouraging them to strive “to achieve a general democracy…”

The dichotomy of her praise and criticism of our founders and our Constitution shows that she is greatly misinformed of both…

Decision 2012, What Does It All Mean?

By Allen Wilson

Good bye Presidential hoopla we’ll see you in August.

But for now, let’s turn our thoughts to more pressing problems for Florida and the nation. Fasten your seat belts folks; it’s going to be a bumpy ride.

This won’t be a Tea Party vs the Establishment event, that’s just so 2010. No, this is a showcase for Agenders, Fair Taxers, Occupiers (well they don’t really vote do they”), and GOOOH’ers…

Tired Of Political Elitists Picking Our Candidates?

By Rick Steeby

I am not a fan of this two-party system where your personal beliefs have to be compromised to one party platform or the other based on the lesser of two evils.

I am reminded of my own words of how Congress has become entrenched and regardless of party they are more concerned with the power and the prestige of office then in service to their country.

Romney Wins, What’s Next?

By Tom Tillison

So after three years of toil by thousands of average everyday citizens who’ve sacrificed far more than they ever cared to, Florida supports John McCain yet again, just in a prettier package.

And just as in 2008, Florida will be the impetus that thrusts this better wrapped version identified as Mitt Romney one step closer to an eventual match up with Barack Obama.

There will be plenty of coverage breaking down the final numbers…

Clouds On A Sunny Day

By Allen Wilson

I remember the instant that the mood changed.

As my lens focused beyond the Washington Monument and upon the Capital Dome I recognized that I no longer felt proud of this city. I was embarrassed that under that dome sat men and women who first thought of themselves before they thought of their nation.
