Is The Occupy Wall Street Movement Reflective Of The Tea Party?

West Orlando Tea Party

I would say emphatically NOT! While the tea party took a stand in March of 2010, many Americans were too busy hailing their new Campaigner in Chief. It was only the tea party folks who were smart enough to realize that our freedoms and liberty were under attack and that they have been for years.

Unlike the “occupiers”, we decided to take a stand by changing the system and electing people who understand. We decided to get up off the couch rather than complain about why our country is in demise. We have sacrificed our time and treasures for the future of this country and did a pretty good job of making our voices heard. Ask Alan Grayson what he thinks of the tea party.

We peacefully demonstrated in the hopes that we would be heard and for that we got attacked by the likes of Nancy Pelosi, Harry Reid, and the others who appear to feel their power slipping away.

Now you see the OWS protestors desperate that somehow the tea party might be gaining a foothold in the political landscape. The handlers of the socialist movement can’t stand it and decided to take it to the streets in order to try and gain public support for their agenda. Sadly, none of them knows anything about economics 101 and from what I see, they have no idea about the constitution and what America was founded on.

Instead, they seem to only believe that our problems will be resolved if we tax the rich and support the unions. I believe that when they see that they are not getting their way, they will turn to violence as demonstrated by the rash of arrests at their protests. I hope I am wrong but I feel like there is a sense of desperation as the progressives feel threatened by our Republic and the tea party movement.

Where were these people in the last few years when the tea party was holding meetings and asking people to take a stand? They were taking a stand as they rallied on the steps of Wisconsin to object to governor Scott Walker trying to balance his budget and reign in spending. They were calling for Rick Scott’s head here in Florida as he tried to do the same. The unions bused in people to fight this terrible idea of fiscal responsibility and left graffiti on the state capitol in Wisconsin. These are the same people who are behind OWS. To claim that they are the 99% may be true in the sense that they are the 99% who believe they are owed something.

When I see these people and the media trying to equate the OWS movement as similar to the tea party, my blood boils. In some sense, I feel sorry for some of these people. They appear to be lost and misguided and unable to understand what has been handed to them or more importantly, why. These are the people I hope can have an open mind and will listen to facts. However, I believe strongly that many others are Progressives and Socialists who could care less about the foundation of our country and the principles we were founded on.

The Journey Forward

When I decided to get involved and start a tea party, I knew nothing about our constitution but also knew that something was not right in our country. When President Obama decided to pass legislation on health care despite the will of the American people, I felt like he was ignoring the will of the people and it scared me. Little did I know at the time, he would continue pressing forward. What I have come to learn is a little bit of history and how wise our forefathers were and how informed the people in the tea party movement really are on how America was founded.

When I took a history lesson in college, I remember the professor standing in front of the classroom on the very first day and saying to us that those who fail to learn the lessons of history are doomed to repeat them. I was 19 years old and it meant little to me at the time and I never paid much attention. I was happy with just passing the class, which I did.

To this day, I still have not read the entire Constitution of the United States but I have come to understand some basic principles of what our founding fathers knew and what we were founded on. I look at some of the quotes over 200 years ago and realize that there are those in our country today who really could care less. I can see what they warned us about and how people today ignore their wisdom.

Below are a few quotes from Thomas Jefferson that I find striking and meaningful in the world we live in today.

The policy of the American government is to leave their citizens free, neither restraining nor aiding them in their pursuits.

No man has a natural right to commit aggression on the equal rights of another, and this is all from which the laws ought to restrain him.

To take from one because it is thought that his own industry and that of his father’s has acquired too much, in order to spare to others, who, or whose fathers, have not exercised equal industry and skill, is to violate arbitrarily the first principle of association—the guarantee to every one of a free exercise of his industry and the fruits acquired by it.

I wonder how many of the “occupiers” would respect these basic principles or if they even care? I don’t expect most people to read the constitution nor do I believe many people have. Our country was founded on our constitution and it’s principles and right now we are under attack. Fortunately, I think most of us get the basic premise on how we became a great nation and it is not by overthrowing capitalism and demanding a free ride.

It appears the left wants a fight and once again they have underestimated the tea party and our reach. We are the silent majority and continue to grow in our numbers as Americans watch these people take to the streets and get disgusted.

For those of you who want to fight against this socialist takeover of our country, I would suggest that you and your friends to join the tea party and join the millions of us who saw this coming.

After seeing our country's debt totals rise and the direction our country is headed, Ron and Laura decided that sitting around and doing nothing is no longer an option.

You say no, then there are sure a lot of Ron Paul and Tea Partiers out there demonstrating. I think they have infiltrated the Occupy “leadership” and are taking it over. The hippies don’t know what they’re doing anyway.

  2. Ron McCoy says:

    Tragic,

I am sure the leftist organizers would like to think there are tea partiers there but that is simply not true. Tea Party people do not associate with left wing organizations who are conspiring to cause unrest in our country. This is nothing more than a desperate attempt from the left to gain public support and deflect attention from the lousy job our campaigner in chief is doing.

The unions are in control…make no mistake.

  3. Gailmarie says:

Tea Partiers are about Personal Responsibility and Don’t Tread on Me….
The Flea Baggers are about taking NO responsibility & Trampling on others. Hard to confuse the two movements.

War On Women Can Be Fought At The Polls

By Kim Carroll

Women have the power. They take their right to vote seriously and show up at the polls in greater numbers than men according to the Center for American Women and Politics at Rutgers University.

In 2008, 60.4 percent of eligible female voters cast their vote versus 55.7% of eligible males. According to the same study, more women are registered to vote than men, 66.6 million versus 63.5 million. Maybe that’s why the “War on Women” has taken a front seat in this election…

This post kicks off a three-part series about the crisis of spending, debt and deficits.

The next part deals with the interval between now and the inevitable arrival of the Minsky Moment, i.e. the unknown and unknowable time when an unsustainable economic phenomenon suddenly collapses.

The third post will address Gotterdammerung, or what happens after the Minsky Moment.

Is Mack Campaign Getting Desperate?

By Tom Tillison

It’s a fair guess that Connie Mack has seen some recent polling that has gotten his attention.

As the week closed out, the rhetoric coming from the Mack campaign took on a rather fervent pitch. In a press release sent out Thursday, it made the claim that opponent George LeMieux has “endorsed raising Florida’s sales tax to a nation-leading 16 percent.”

Obama’s IPAB Death Panels Limit More Than Just Health Care Access

By L. Persona

Florida Democrats believe they can win a few Republican seats in Congress and are preparing a major offensive against several Republicans facing tough challenges this year. They believe that redistricting gives them a chance to offset the seats they are sure to give up.

However, the Democrats still fail to realize the albatross that ObamaCare places on their party’s efforts…

A Black Guy At The Dallas, TX Tea Party Rally

By Lloyd Marcus

A big well dressed black guy attended the Dallas, TX tea party rally with his white buddy. Both men missed my singing performance on stage minutes earlier.

I asked the black gentleman who had an impressive physique how often he worked out. He replied, “Everyday.” His white buddy said with a chuckle, “He thinks the Tea Party is racist.”
