Kurt Kelly, one of seven candidates in congressional district 8 looking to take on Rep. Alan Grayson (D), was recently interviewed on Fox Business and took the firebrand congressman to task over missing the vote to supply supplemental funding for our troops by saying, ”maybe, he wants them to die”.
Kelly was discussing the $73,000 mailer that Grayson sent out to his district, at taxpayer expense, when he suggested that Grayson should have been more focused on our troops in the field rather that sending out a “puff piece” to potential voters.
It’s curious that Grayson, who touts ‘Peace’ as one of his campaign platforms, would miss this vote. Is he pandering to his far left base at the expense of our troops? There’s little debate that our troops deserve better.
RPOF Chairman John Thrasher, a decorated Vietnam veteran, had this to say about Grayson (and Kendrick Meek, who was campaigning) missing this vote;
“Every day soldiers from across the state of Florida fight to defend our freedom and Iraq and Afghanistan. Kendrick Meek and Alan Grayson shouldn’t let politics get in the way of providing essential support for these Floridians who are risking their lives on our behalf. The soldiers, sailors and marines this bill will support can’t miss missions or pick and choose which operations to complete, so why should their representatives in congress pick and choose what bills to vote for and which votes they can just sit out.”
Kurt Kelly is the man! He has won 6 straw polls, which is more than any other candidate. It is clear that he is the frontrunner in the primary, as well as the general.
Kurt Kelly is the one to take on Grayson. He took on Allan Combs on Fox Business News on Friday night. Way to go Kurt.!

One thing Kurt is good at is taking orders from his superiors is the party, like when they ordered him to vote yes on Sun Rail which puts the constituents in his district in debt for the rest of their lives, but what does he care he remains the darling of the party. That;s alright because conservative Republican Patricia Sullivan is the darling of the people, she yields to no orders from a party, she will represent the people of the district. About time Kurt got o Fox, Patricia Sullivan has already been interviewed several time by Fox, guess they just find her a more interesting person to interview. Mr Kelly however only knew how to raise his voice to make him sound as if he cared what the people wanted. Like when she was asked what committee she wanted to be on she had no idea? While Kurt Kelly said he wanted to be on the ways and means committee so that he could have a direct impact on reforming the tax system by instituting the fair tax.

Sam, oh, I mean Doug, Kurts answer shows just how out of touch he is with reality and that’s not the kind of person we want as a Representative. We already have one, his name is Al Grayson. The similarities between Grayson and Kelly seem to be mounting. That’s why so many people are going with the antithesis of Grayson conservative Republican Patricia Sullivan.
I stand by what I said, I am proud to stand by the candidate Patricia Sullivan, to all of you that want change and are not willing to see who is best for the job I feel sorry for you. Good catch, Kurt. Alan needs to be held accountable for his rabid anti-military stance. He may disagree with the war, but failing to support the troops is unforgivable.

At the candidate forum, Sullivan was so shocked and unprepared for the committee question that she simply retreated to saying “I will let God decide.” That isn’t an answer. Pardon the voters of this district who are hoping to elect a Congress person with a plan, a position, or an idea of any kind as to what committee she or he should be on.
Lake County has largely switched from Sullivan to Kelly which is why Sullivan stepped up all the attacks on Kelly… despite Webster actually being the front-runner. Great strategy guys. What she needs to think about is how badly Dan Fanelli is going to come after her for all her lies and prevarications regarding her theft and misrepresentation of his campaign.
Just as I was once devoted to pure scholarship, in the era of Luther, and could not break from the Catholic church with that great man, I must be devoted to rigid and pure logic today. Logic suggests that Sullivan is out of her depth, better suited to school board or a state race, and that the rest of the candidates who are by and large ready, continue to fight their spirited race.

Obviously Patricia Sullivan supporters know she is the best candidate, because they are very familiar with her common sense and intelligent treatment of each issue, and her desire to SERVE. I recently attended the Marion County Republican Business Council forum. You were very impressive. I know the guy, Kelly, from these parts is already acting/talking like he has already won the Republican nomination, but please know that we here in this county know the truth about him. He is a career politician type. You can tell this easily by going to his website and seeing that all of his endorsements are from political insiders from the State legislature and the U.S. government. His act on stage the other day was of a slick good ol’ boy who wants to continue to back slap by winning this seat and being there until he retires. I just took a look at Kelly again on the television program. The host stated something like that Kelly is running against Grayson. Huh? Kelly is so arrogant that he thinks he has already won the Republican nomination. That is disrespectful to the voters and disrespectful to the other Republican candidates in the race. His grandstanding can stop in a few weeks at the voting booth!

I would love to hear a Sullivan supporter tell me why in her Orlando Sentinel Editorial Board interview, she says that if she were in Congress she would not have voted for the Clean Air Act, Clean Water Act and wasn’t sure if she would vote for the Civil Rights Acts. When asked further she said “Don’t go there”. Personally I think she obviously has no clue what these pieces of legislation did or maybe she doesn’t believe in civil rights. Republicans are the party of less government, not racists.

The talking point that Kelly is a “career politician” gets repeated many of your people. That is the title of the video. It WAS a slide in the video until I brought this to brascoboy’s attention. He realized it was untrue and took it out. I guess if he makes accusations with a question mark after them, that makes it ok. I shouldn’t have used the word slanderous because it was written and not spoken (its a video-I misspoke).
Is this a reasonable definition of a “career politician”? People who enter politics because for money for multiple terms. a Florida’s state senator’s salary is $30,336 a year. I don’t know what a rep makes, but its probably in the same ball park. It is a gross misrepresentation to assign that label to Kelly . Kelly is a ONE TERM state rep and has a job outside of his political post that pays his bills. I don’t see how the SunRail vote turns someone into a “career politician”. So your agent provacateur, BrascoBoy pasted copies of his video on 3 of my discussions on ResistNet (which were completely off topic). I am actually happy to debate the SunRail issue on its merits. It clearly wasn’t BrascoBoy’s intention to debate. He was clearly seeking to provoke me. He was disappointed when I actually started parsing out his video and further provoked me by deleting my responses. The gauntlet was thrown down when he began censoring me.
Furthermore, the content of the video indicates that its purpose is to provoke rather than inform. It accuses Kelly of talking out of “both sides of his mouth” in bright red letters. It is premised on the unreliable source Matt Falconer, which shows he was desperate for something to back him up. Are you comfortable with the claims made in the video knowing that Falconer was just caught misrepresenting facts a few weeks ago? Finally, It was timed to release 30 days before the election, so the intent is clear.
The ironic part of BrascoBoy’s provacation is that Sullivan was a second choice for me. Although I have a few reservations about her, I thought she was a good candidate. It was a big surprise to me when your agents picked a fight with me. Now that I have seen these shenanigans, I whole heartedly oppose your campaign.

Refer back to Debra Medina, the tea party candidate for Texas governor. She was Ron Paul’s top volunteer in the 2008 campaign. She surged in the polls until Glenn Beck revealed that she is a 9/11 truther. Then Ron Paul defended her because many of the Ron Paul Revolutionaries are 9/11 truthers.

First Braley, state a real name or don’t post. Misleading comments about Kurt Kelly. Tell me one thing I wrote that is untrue. He is attempting to become a Washington, DC career politician and I am against those types that think they are owed the position. If he gets to DC he will continue to be an extreme party line Republican. The country needs fresh, first time people representing. People on this site suggest it is important to have political experience. I think someone can have too much experience and get caught up in thinking they have to win re-election so they better vote the party line. TERM LIMITS ARE THE KEY. It also mentions that he served as a fb coach at West Port HS. He definitely was a volunteer asst coach there, but he quit in the middle of the season. He has the gaul to post that on his bio as a positive when he didn’t finish the season? You have become blinded by the Kelly political machine. I forgot to mention that I received my demo. voting ballot today and that what do you know, I can vote in District 8. Obviously you have looked me up because that is what you types do when someone like me who has never considered voicing/email/letter to the editors/etc before this election and somehow came out of the woods to state something negative about your candidate. I am sure if he wins August 24th that you will come on here and gloat. You will also state that now that this election is over, let’s get all Republicans to unite to defeat the Democrat. All this means is you have an agenda to go along party lines only. I have an agenda to get every career politician out of the School Board, County Commision, State Legislature, and DC and get some fresh, new voices elected. Kurt Kelly is a wannabe career politician, he needs to be stopped. This August 24th election is the first, hopefully the last, attempt at allowing him to go back to live in the real world of the private sector. Kurt and I went to Vanguard together. Kurt was a star and a great leader on the football. Kurt and I and my siblings were in the same Fairfield 4-H Club. One year, I remember Kurt’s steer won many awards. So my facts are TRUTH and not fiction as you have stated.
It is so obvious you have some ax to grind. Maybe Kurt had to correct you at some point in the past. Kurt is from an awesome family. He is a blessed man! Kurt is one of us- not a career politician. He has a servants heart to serve the people not to be served.
The anger you exhibit in the two previous posts are alarming. I agree with Braley- your mean-spirited and misleading facts are concerning. I would suggest going to an anger management class and adjusting your attitude. Life is too short!
Oh- recently I heard Rush Limbaugh say that it is foolish to vote for someone who has no record. This is the mentality that has gotten us Obama- the no experience guy.
Kurt is the one with experience, proven leadership. He is a true conservative , Reagan-inspired and a bold Christian.

Vanguard – nice passion. I see you have drank the Kelly Kool Aid. I saw the picture, he didn’t look like he was wrestling a steer. Kurt had to correct me? You obviously are a Kellyite. Okay please tell me that he was All County or All State in football and please make sure you are factual because those selections would mean he was a “star”. Look and see if he abandoned the West Port football team in the middle of the season. Remember be factual here. I also noticed on his website the name of his company that he runs. That company came into being while he was in an elected position. The website states that it earns between 500,000 – 1, 000,000 annually. It is a background checking company located in a very small, I mean very small, office in Ocala with only a few, 3-4, employees. This is impressive, but how did it happen? If he is that good of a businessman than maybe he should be the President. Again, check it out for factual information.
Kurt Kelly wants to be a career politician. I am against anyone who has that type of ambition. I am voting for someone that is fresh/new. Since you mentioned Rush Limbaugh..I have a question for you. Why do you follow people in such a cult-like manner?
To summarize, the Republican party has become the party of the “no” against everything. This will continue with Kelly types getting elected, so Sullivan is that someone who is fresh/new and will still represent Republicans AND have some bipartisanship too.
You are too close to the fire to understand that this country is upset with all long term politicians who are running the country into the ground. Our Founding Fathers more than likely wanted a person to serve, but not for a lifetime.
I am not an angry type, I am just not backing Kelly for this district seat. I will vote and he will either win or lose on August 24th. I will go back to work, he will either be elected or go back to the private sector. It really is that simple.
